A bet was placed by Giuseppe Costa and the bet was won. This is Il Bavaglino, a restaurant that tells the story of a Sicily made of fragrances and colors. After many long years spent in important Italian kitchens (from Heinz Beck to Carlo Cracco), Costa decided to open his own restaurant two steps away from the sea in the seaside borgo of Terrasini. In 2014 his most prestigious recognition came: the Michelin star. It was not an objective to be reached but the hallmark of a beginning of an ambitious project which was to tell the story of a land full of nuance and charm. Choose one of the four tasting menus (from three, four, six or eight courses). You will be able to sample delicacies from both the land and sea and, especially, to travel back and forwards in time. Costa’s cuisine, in fact, is inspired by the various dominions that Sicily underwent- from the Greeks to the Arabs, the Spanish and the French. Opt for the gnocco ai tenerumi, a gourmet summer pasta dish. We also recommend the tagliolini with rabbit ragù, basil pesto and caprino fondu. Among the second courses we would like to suggest the braised tuna, cream of ceci beans, red onion and a reduction of Nero d’Avola or the succulent beef belly flavored with wild anise. The desserts are up to the standard of the gastronomic proposal. The wine list is spot on. The service is polite and attentive.
