Here, time has not stood still; it has come back to life thanks to Luigi Cammarota\u2019s project. Giggino, an innkeeper by calling who spent some time away and realized that to open something truly worthwhile he didn\u2019t need to invent anything\u2014only ask his grandparents for advice and recreate the earthy atmosphere of the fertile Sele Plain. Opened just before Covid, it has moved a short distance from its original location while keeping its spirit intact: a celebration of pasta and beans, rested pasta and potatoes, Genovese onion sauce, tripe, bread meatballs, soffritto, stuffed artichokes, pizza di gallette, and much more. Behind this carefully researched nostalgia, from the 1950s-60s d\u00e9cor to the menu, lies true gastronomic modernity: keeping pace with the seasons and reviving recipes that are no longer found even in people\u2019s homes. This revival starts with the ingredients, with traceable produce, with recipes drawn from the weekly calendar, and with the human connection that is so rare in the age of call centers. What can I say? It is truly a place of joy. At lunch, you can even have a single dish and then head back to work. Local wine, a few liqueurs, beer. A postcard from Battipaglia to keep as a memory\u2014but above all, to come back for.<\/p>\n
