The osteria, renovated at the beginning of the year, is a steadfast fixture of Roman tradition. The offering is very simple and effective, with a nod to Viterbo, where Alessandra lived for several years and from where her grandparents originally came: a daily special and well-executed dishes, with no crowd-pleasing or tourist-friendly compromises. Alessandra fills the dining room with her empathetic, engaging personality, able to size up guests at once and quickly build rapport. Prices remain reasonable despite the influx of tourists. The wine list is thoughtful, with a coherent focus on natural and organic labels. In short, you eat very well and feel at home; there is also an outdoor seating area, but we recommend the two small indoor rooms to fully soak up the atmosphere. Not to be missed are the heart carpaccio, the fried tripe is a tasty treat, and the tongue picchiapò is a delightful surprise.
