A historic trattoria in the heart of Naples, for over eighty years it has welcomed tourists, celebrities and anyone seeking quality cuisine with intention. The atmosphere is warm and inviting: the lower floor has a more informal, authentically trattoria feel, while the first-floor dining room is more refined and better suited to larger groups. Neapolitan hospitality is such that for up to three people, booking isn’t even necessary: there may be a bit of a wait at the entrance, usually not too long, but service is quick and manages to accommodate everyone. The photographs on the walls tell a story of encounters and illustrious guests, but here the real star is the food, elevated by chef Salvatore Giugliano, who has skilfully blended Neapolitan tradition with modern touches and Eastern influences: a perfectly successful melting pot. There are many dishes worth noting, but its majesty, ‘o puparuol ‘mbuttunato, has no rivals. Friendly, attentive staff; a deep wine list featuring local, national and international labels.
